The Vail School district is helping the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona kick off Diaper Need Awareness week this month.

The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona has set a goal to collect 500,000 diapers, enough to provide diapers to 15,000 families living below the poverty line in Pima County.

Last year, students at all 21 Vail schools collected more than 100,000 diapers in 10 days for families in need.

“We ask the community to support the 500,000 diaper goal. Bowling teams, churches, schools, book clubs, cycling groups - anyone can run a drive. On April 20, 2019, the Diaper Bank will celebrate the community’s support of the 500,000 goal at its annual fundraising event, Dancing With Our Stars,” said Leslie Pike, Manager of Programs and Volunteerism, Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona.

Diaper Need Awareness Week is September 24 through September 30.
