UberMILITARY, an in-app feature that helps military base riders, is launching on Friday, Nov. 9, just in time for Veteran's Day.

Riders that use UberMILITARY will be matched with drivers that have base access, making it more convenient for riders that need to be picked up from or dropped off at Davis-Monthan, a military base located in Tucson's city limits.

Currently, the process for requesting a ride from the base requires riders to sometimes walk a large distance to meet their driver.

While walking, these riders also can experience unfriendly weather conditions, like searing summer heat or monsoon downpours.

When someone request's an UberMILITARY, the rider will be matched with the same vehicle options as an UberX ride which means up to four seats are available.

Uber requires that all UberMILITARY riders provide their military CAC/ID card upon pickup.
