Two teens have been struck by a train in Vail. One has died, the other is in the hospital.

According to Ryan Inglett with the Pima County Sheriff's Department, it happened around 2 p.m.

A 17-year-old man and woman were struck.

The male was pronounced dead on scene. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It happened near Marsh Station Road and I-10 on an overpass that is only for trains.

According to witnesses, the man and woman had been up on the bridge for about 30 to 45 minutes before the incident.

Train engineers did everything they could to stop.

People have been killed by trains in the area before.
