SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — Sierra Vista Police arrested one person after a single gunshot injured two people during an argument Sunday.
Police said 29-year-old Steven Hupcej was arrested and facing charges on two counts each of aggravated assault, endangerment, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and one count of discharge of a firearm at a residential structure.
SVPD said "Conflicting statements from Hupcej and witnesses led to the arrest. While Hupcej claims that he drew his gun and it “went off” when the victim lunged at him with a screwdriver, witness statements say that the victim did not lunge at Hupcej. When questioned by officers, Hupcej described the altercation, giving a statement that is inconsistent with how the bullet actually entered the victim."
There was one shooting victim treated on the scene and the second was taken to the hospital, they are in stable condition.
