TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two people are dead as the result of a four vehicle accident on eastbound I-10 between Avra Valley and Twin Peaks.
Brian Keeley, Captain/Public Information Officer with Northwest Fire District says they received a call around 4:15 a.m. reporting heavily damaged vehicles and an unknown number of patients as a result of the accident.
When crew arrived on scene, they identified a total of seven people involved.
Four patients were evaluated by paramedics and refused transport, one was transported by ground ambulance in stable condition, and two were pronounced deceased on scene, said Keeley.
The two deceased patients were the only occupants of the two vehicles involved in an initial accident. The other vehicles and remaining patients were part of a secondary accident that shortly followed the first incident, said Keeley.
The Department of Public Safety closed all eastbound I-10 traffic between Avra Valley and Twin Peaks roads while they investigated the collision scene.
