TUCSON, Ariz. — More than 3.6 million passengers flew through Tucson International Airport in 2018, making it one of the 10 busiest years in the airport's 70-year history.
The 2018 total saw a 5.4% growth from 2017.
The busiest month was March, followed by December.
TUS credits the increase to airlines adding new destinations, adding low-cost carriers like Allegiant and Frontier and using bigger planes.
At the end of 2018, TUS was served by nine airlines and flying nonstop to 22 destination airports.
American Airlines was the airports busiest airport, followed by Southwest.
