Tucsonans to brave freezing temps for Chick-fil-A opening campout

TUCSON, Ariz. — How far would you go for warm chicken? Tonight, Tucsonans are camping out in below freezing temperatures to potentially win free Chick-fil-A for a year.

The event is called Chick-fil-A's "First 100 campout," and they happen when a new Chick-fil-A springs up. The first 100 customers will win a year's worth of free Chick-fil-A meals -- 52 of them, in total. According to Chick-fil-A, the tradition began in 2003, and it involves people staying in tents in the parking lot the night prior, rain, snow or shine.

Temperatures are supposed to drop into the 20s overnight in Tucson, with the National Weather Service issuing a hard freezing warning for much of southern Arizona.

This campout registration will begin at 6 p.m. at 1188 W. Irvington Road, where the new Chick-fil-A will open on Thursday morning. To participate, you must have a valid ID, be 18 years or older, and must be a part of one of the following zip codes:
