Tucson's American Red Cross chapter is ready to step in and help those affected in Florida.

One volunteer, John Macko is flying into Orlando Saturday morning to help those in Shelters.

Macko has a one way ticket to the Sunshine state as millions are evacuate to higher ground.

"The hurricane hasn't hit yet but we're already ready to help people," says Macko. Adding, "from the beginning we're already planning for when it's over."

Macko will be leaving Tucson Saturday Morning for an estimated two weeks. He's expecting to meet thousands of other volunteers and of course, meeting thousands of people searching for a warm place to eat and sleep.

"We're not there to help it go away but we're there to help people put it back together," says Macko. "The water will go down, the power will come back on but what happens then?"

Macko has never volunteered during a hurricane but says he's not afraid. Despite the historic magnitude hurricane Irma is expected to bring.

Macko says, "I'm afraid of a time when no one would go where they are needed."
