Tucson police investigating homicide near Oracle and Grant

Tucson police are investigating a homicide near Oracle and Grant. 

One man is dead according to Tucson Police Department, the shooting happened in the 2600 block of North Oracle Road. 

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Jorge Ibarra.

Sgt. Kimberly Bay with TPD tells KGUN a group of people were in front of the Tiki motel when it turned confrontational. 

Police say at least one shot rang out and multiple people fled the scene. 

When police responded to the motel they found the victim suffering from a gun shot wound. 

Nearby Nash Elementary, 515 W. Kelso, is on lockdown as a result of the investigation.

Children who go home by bus have been released, but those who walk home are still on campus. 

Parents need to go to the school to pick up their student. 

Officers are searching the area for at least two suspects according to Sgt. Kimberly Bay.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
