Tucson Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday night shortly before 8:30 p.m.
According to Sgt. Kimberly Bay with Tucson Police, officers responded to reports of a fight in the 2300 block of S. Saddleback Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers found a man in a nearby alley with behind a residence with signs of trauma. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 63-year-old Gary Rachal.
Detectives learned that Rachal was involved in an altercation with another man in the alley. That man has been identified as 38-year-old Thomas Payne who was staying at a nearby residence.
Police say that during the altercation, Rachal was stabbed multiple times by Payne.
Payne fled the area, but officers were able to locate him a short distance away without incident. He was arrested for 2nd-degree murder and booked into Pima County Jail.
Detectives are still investigating and are speaking with several people who were involved in the incident along with other witnesses.
