UPDATE (10:21 a.m., Nov. 12):

An interim complaint obtained by KGUN 9 sheds more light on what led to the fatal shooting on Tucson's westside Monday night.

According to the complaint, Philip Chambers went over to his ex-girlfriend's house unannounced. Chambers and the ex have children together, but the ex also lived at her home with her boyfriend, Casey Kneisel.

The ex-girlfriend arrived home to find Chambers and Kneisel talking in the carport. The ex then confronted Chambers about why he was at her home.

During the confrontation, Chambers pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Kneisel. Kneisel ran around a vehicle in the carport to get away, while the ex-girlfriend started to run into the house to call the police, the complaint said.

The ex-girlfriend was then shot in the leg.

Chambers chased Kneisel to the nearby McDonald's. There were cartridge casings and a blood trail between the ex-girlfriend's house and the restaurant.

Tucson Police officers arrived to find a shattered door, a blood trail and more cartridge casings that led back to the kitchen and into an employee break room, where Kneisel was found dead, the news release said.

Security video captured a male in dark clothing, brown pants, with his head covered, chasing Kneisel into the McDonald's, then shooting him at close range in the employee room, the complaint said.

The suspect fled the scene. Officers located Chambers wearing the clothing seen on video, about a mile northeast of the McDonald's with a 9mm handgun with apparent blood on it, tucked into his waistband.

The ammunition in Chambers' bag matched the caliber and brand found at the scene, the complaint said.

Chambers also had blood on his clothing, the complaint said.

The complaint noted Chambers has prior felony convictions out of Maricopa County and has not had his rights restored.
