Tucson police have identified a man shot and killed on the eastside as 22-year-old Edward A. McGuire.

Police say just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday officers responded to an apartment complex at 1901 North WIlmot Road for multiple reports of gunfire.

As officers arrived they located McGuire in the parking lot with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.

Police say McGuire was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives responded and learned that McGuire was a passenger in a vehicle with two other friends.

As the car pulled into the complex parking lot, there was an altercation between the occupants of McGuire's car and occupants of another car(s).

Police say during the altercation, shots were fired and McGuire was struck.

The other car(s) had fled before officers arrived on scene.

It's unclear at this time whether McGuire knew the suspects in the other car(s).

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or saw vehicles leaving the scene to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME, you can remain anonymous.
