UPDATE (10:41 a.m., Aug. 6):
Tucson Police said in a news release that the pedestrian struck on East Speedway Wednesday morning was lying in the roadway when hit.
According to the news release, the person, who TPD did not identify, was lying in the eastbound median lane when struck by a Chevrolet Malibu.
The driver immediately stopped, the news release said, and cooperated with the investigation. TPD determined the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash.
Detectives are working to determine if the person struck was hit by another vehicle before being hit by the Malibu.
The investigation is ongoing.

Tucson Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in the 100 block of East Speedway, east of North Stone.
The incident took place at 4:30 a.m.
