TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Tucson police have identified a 32-year-old man who was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning at an apartment complex on the city's south side.
Officers and Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to the 1400 block of West Irvington Road at about 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 23 after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Tucson Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male in the apartment complex parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified him as Juan Amarillas Espinoza, 32. His next of kin has been notified.
The suspect had left the scene before officers arrived and had not been located, police said.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit personnel responded to investigate. Detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses, learning that Espinoza was in the parking lot when the shooting occurred.
Police said the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, and detectives are working to identify and locate a suspect.
