Tucson police Chief leaves his position

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - After 35 years, Roberto Villasenor is leaving his position as Tucson police Chief.

Chief Villasenor is a native of Tucson. He joined the Tucson Police Department in 1980 and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2000 and to Chief of police in 2009.

During his time serving in the police force Villasenor has seen just about everything but he said the worst is the criminal justice system.

Villasenor said the entire criminal justice system needs to be revamped so that addicts who have committed no other crime can get help and then return to society.

This will keep Arizona jails and prisons from filling up.
