TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tucson Police Department has identified a pedestrian who was killed in an east side wreck earlier this month.

According to TPD, on Oct. 12, 71-year-old George McDonald was hit by a motorcycle near Speedway and Dodge.

Police say McDonald failed to activate the area's HAWK light before entering the crosswalk. He was then seen stepping into the motorcycle's lane of travel when he was struck, TPD said.

The motorcycle rider was thrown from his vehicle and suffered minor injuries. Police say the rider remained on scene and cooperated with police.

A DUI officer responded and determined the rider was not impaired.
