The Tucson Metro Chamber announced today that President and CEO, Michael Varney, will retire. He has served in this position since 2011.
According to a Tucson Metro Chamber press release, the Chamber nearly doubled its top of the line revenue and the number of staff during his six years.
“This has been the most difficult decision of my life,” said Varney. “It’s just not human nature to walk away from friends, allies and a career that energizes every moment of every day.”
Varney said the main reason for this decision is because he wants to be closer to his family.
He will remain involved with the Chamber during the transition period.
