TUCSON, Ariz. - A Tucson man has been sentenced for stealing over $100,000 from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, or the AHCCCS, on Monday.

Per a press release from the Attorney General, 72-year-old David Henry Meyer will serve a 27-month prison sentence and has been ordered to pay back the AHCCCS $100,782.01 in restitution.

In 2017, the Pima County Sheriff's Department was notified of theft at a local edical transportation business conducted by an employee. At the time, Meyer was an employee and submitted false patient transportation records, which took about $3,000 from the AHCCCS.

Investigations conducted by the Attorney General's office then revealed that Meyer had been repeatedly submitting false records for a period of 9 months, secretly pulling thousands of dollars from the AHCCCS.
