Tucson man sentenced to 6 months in prison for involvement in obtaining fraudulent refunds

TUCSON, Ariz. — A Tucson man was sentenced to prison for his involvement in obtaining fraudulent refunds, the United States Attorney's Office District of Arizona announced Monday.

Last week, 37-year-old Adan Ramirez was sentenced to six months in prison and is ordered to pay $100,479 in restitution to the IRS.

Ramirez had previously pleaded guilty to "aiding and assisting the preparation of false tax returns," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

His fraudulent claims, include; wages, withholdings, dependents, Earned Income Credits , and Additional Child Tax Credits to collect tax refunds.

The investigation was conducted by the IRS Criminal Investigation division.
