TUCSON, Ariz. — New improvements are coming to the Tucson International Airport.
The Department of Transportation announced two grants for the airport totaling $5.2 million that will be used to reconstruct a runway and improve a taxiway.
Congressman Raul Grijalva issued a statement Wednesday afternoon praising the grant.
"This is the type of federal infrastructure investments we need to help drive the local economy, provide jobs, and invest in the long-term success of our community," he said in a statement.
More than 3.6 million people pass through the airport each year, according to its website.
