The Tucson Fire department has brought a fire under control that began around 7 a.m. this morning in the 1600 block of North Wilmot.

Per a TFD press release, a call came in saying that smoke was seen coming from a second story apartment. In response, Engine 7 was sent to the scene and attacked the interior aggressively.

Over 30 firefighters were involved in getting the flames under control and Red Cross assisted six people who were displaced during the time of the fire.

TFD says five apartments have been condemned for fire or smoke damage by building safety. Damage estimates have not been completed yet, but no firefighter or civilian was injured.

TFD is still investigating the cause and origin at this time.
