Tucson City officials cut the ribbon on a brand new bridge.
The bridge is an extension of Sabino Canyon Road to Kolb Road. It will divert traffic from the busy intersection of Tanque Verde/Grant and Kolb.
Paul Cunningham says, "it's really important this project got done because we have a traffic situation that's gonna be unmanageable in the next few years. So this alleviates that. It helps with our public safety access. And also it's great to have a bridge named for the Airmen Memorial bridge. It's pure Tucson. Something that honors Tucson. I'm just happy to be a part of it."
The plaque for the bridge was uncovered by the men who found a bullet in the wash.
The single bullet led to the remembrance of 18 airmen who died there in a midair collision during training in World War II.
