TPD solves two murder cases in less than a day

It has been a busy start of the week for Tucson police. Investigators solved two murders in less than a day. 
 
Police arrested suspects in two different cases, a deadly stabbing as well as a deadly shooting.
 
TPD worked quickly to solve both crimes, arresting the two male suspects responsible.
 
One of those crimes happened in the North side and the other on the East side. The suspect who shot and killed his wife Sunday night in an apartment complex on the East side is in custody.King Yates, 22, shot his wife Cassandra Yates at their apartment complex. Yates left the apartment complex on foot immediately following the incident. However, TPD quickly located him at a nearby residence. According to police, evidence, including a gun were recovered. He was booked into the Pima County Jail.
 
Meanwhile, Chet Maley, 25, was arrested Monday afternoon after he stabbed a woman who he had an ongoing romantic relationship with. According to police, Maley drove Roxanne ortiz to a Circle K on Flowing Wells and Roger Rd. The two had a verbal argument that began in the parking lot and continued south by a nearby apartment complex. The argument turned physical and Ortiz was stabbed. He fled the area on foot but was located hours later at a residence in the area and was arrested without incident and transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
