Tucson Police responded to a shooting overnight near the University of Arizona campus.

Around 1:26 a.m. subscribers of the University's UAlert system received a notification saying, "Shooting near campus. Tucson Police Dept working a shooting North of Highland Garage. 1 person injured. Suspect fled area going Eastbound. Avoid the area."

Sgt. Pete Dugan of Tucson Police says they received calls just before 1 p.m. of shots fired.

Dugan says a party in the 1400 block of East Mabel had spilled out on to the street. There was some kind of altercation or argument that led to shots being fired in the air. Additional shots were fired and a girl in her late teens was struck.

The girl was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to the area but everyone involved in the incident had fled from the scene.

No one is in custody at this time.
