Tucson police have arrested a man in connection to a bomb hoax from Friday afternoon.
22-year-old Marcus Alan Swift has been arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for Hoax, a class 4 felony and outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
He is being held on a $500 secured bond.
Just after 3 p.m. Tucson police received a call of a man who climbed on top of Rattlesnake Bridge in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and North Aviation Parkway.
The man walked to the middle of the bridge and placed a bag on the bridge and took off running.
Witnesses told police the man locked the bag to the bridge and then took off when someone confronted him.
As officers arrived, they located the item on top of the enclosed pedestrian bridge.
Members of TPD's Special Operations Section and the Bomb Squad responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
The Bomb Squad investigated the backpack and its contents were disrupted. They learned items in the backpack were not explosive.
During this time, Swift returned to scene and took ownership of the backpack.
The bridge and Broadway Boulevard were closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic for four hours. The roads have since reopened.
