Before officers arrived on scene they learned additional information which led them to the 2400 block of South Adventure Trail.
Officers learned that someone may have been injured inside the home.
Police then forced entry into the home and found a man with gunshot trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man killed was identified last year as 42-year-old Daniel Gordon.
During detectives initial investigation last year, they were able to determine that multiple suspects forced entry into the home.
Once inside, police say gunfire was exchanged between Gordon and the suspects.
Gordon was struck by gunfire and died at the scene. A search warrant later revealed that he had been packaging and shipping marijuana out of the residence.
Police say forensic evidence located at the scene helped detectives identify one of the suspects as Rodelo-Velasquez.
On Thursday he was contacted by officers while they were investigating an unrelated call.
Officers took Rodelo-Velasquez into custody without incident and booked him into the Pima County Jail on one charge of First Degree Murder.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this case, if you have any information you are asked to call 88-CRIME.
