Tucson Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the east side Wednesday afternoon.
According to a press release from TPD, officers responded to reports of a shooting in a hotel located at 6555 E. Speedway Blvd. When officers arrived, they found a man inside a hotel room with gunshot wounds.
The man was transported to the hospital and died shortly after. He has been identified as 34-year-old David Jimenez.
Detectives with TPD's Gang Unit continued to investigate and learned that Jimenez had been inside the hotel room with friends and met with another group regarding a drug deal.
At some point, an altercation happened and gunfire was exchanged.
There are no suspects in custody at this time.
This investigation is ongoing.
