Tucson Police Department responded to reports of a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian near the southside on September 23.
Police along with Tucson Fire Department were called to the area of 1300 block of West Ajo Way.
TFD rendered aid to an adult woman who had been hit by an unknown SUV.
The woman was taken to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police determined the woman climbed over concrete barrier mid-block where the roadway is separated from a construction area.
The woman was traveling northbound across Ajo Way when she was struck by the SUV driving eastbound.
The driver did not stop after the crash.
Police say speed does not appear to be factor.
On September 30, TPD was informed the woman had died from her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
No charges or citations have been released at this time.
