Tucson police and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury pedestrian collision at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night near East 22nd Street and South Alvernon Way.

Tucson Fire immediately transported the pedestrian to Banner University Medical Center.

Shortly after arrival at the hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers.

Detectives from TPD responded to the scene to continue the investigtion and determined a 1973 Ford F150 pickup truck was eastbound on East 22nd Street in the curb lane.

Police say as the vehicle passed South Alvernon Way, the pedestrian stepped off the raised median and crossed southbound across East 22nd Street.

The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was then struck by the pickup truck.

Police say speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision and there were no signs of impairment in the driver.

The pedestrian who was killed has been identified as 39-year-old Sergio Manuel Pedregon.
