Tucson Police arrested a man for shooting his girlfriend to death in her car, on Monday night.
Sgt. Pete Dugan says it happened on the 7700 block of East Vancouver Place; that's near Pantano and Escalante. A 911 call came in just after 7:30 p.m.
Police say the victim, 22-year-old Kimberly Cornwell, was found in the front seat of the car with gunshot wounds. Dugan said 24-year-old Stacey Otis Kelley Jr. was sitting in the passenger seat, unharmed.
On Monday, Dugan said, "Looks like this is a domestic violence incident, looks like they were in a relationship, but as far as what actually happened in that vehicle... is what we have to get down to the bottom of right now." Dugan says he is being questioned by police to determine what had happened.
On Tuesday, Dugan said it was determined the two were in a romantic relationship. He said the couple had been involved in an argument outside of the home before the shooting took place.
Kelley was booked into Pima County Jail on one count of Second Degree Murder.
