Tucson police have arrested a man in connection to a homicide on the westside from August 18th.

Detectives received information that 27-year-old Steve Anaya was possibly involved in the homicide in the 1700 block of West 36th Street.

TPD says Anaya became a person of interest and detectives began searching for him.

Police say on Thursday officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2000 block of West Missouri.

Three people were inside the vehicle and one ran as soon as the vehicle came to a stop.

The individual who ran away was quickly apprehended and identified as Steve Anaya.

Anaya was booked into the Pima County Jail on unrelated charges.

Police say a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and a handgun was located.

TPD says preliminary ballistic testing was conducted on the handgun the same day.

Results showed that the handgun in the vehicle was the same one involved in the homicide.

Detectives spoke with Anaya and he was charged with one count each of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Armed Robbery.
