TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson Police are investigating a homicide that happened near the eastside on Mar. 17, 2019.
Officers were called to 3600 block South Calle Polar around 11:00 p.m. about an apparent stabbing.
Officials say, upon arrival a man waved police down in the driveway of a residence.
The man identified himself as 58-year-old Rafael Buckner. The man told police that he was involved in the incident, which took place at his home.
Officers took Buckner into custody.
TPD says, officers arrived at Buckner's home to find a man lying on the ground with signs of trauma.
The man was identified as 57-year-old Marlon Hartley.
Officers performed first aid to Hartley with First Aid Kits.
Tucson Fire were called to the scene and took Hartley to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Tucson Police Violent Crimes Section responded to the scene for investigation.
Officers and Detectives determined the two were friends and Hartley had been staying at Buckner's home.
Buckner and Hartley had been drinking alcohol when the two got into an altercation. During the altercation Hartley was stabbed.
Once Detectives finished the first investigation Buckner was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers say, Hartley died from his injuries on Apr. 9, 2019.
On Apr. 10, 2019. an autopsy was performed and homicide was determined to be the cause of death.
Buckner was charged with one count of second-degree murder on Apr. 11, 2019.
Buckner's aggravated assault charge was dismissed.
