Arizona Game and Fish is offering a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest of a hawk poacher. The department says three hawks have been killed since Sept. 7.
The Harris's hawk was found shot in the head in the Canyon del Oro Wash near North Lago del Oro and East Wilds Road in Catalina at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
"This is the third time since early September that a poacher has stolen wildlife from the citizens of Arizona by illegally killing a hawk," Raul Vega of Game and Fish in Tucson said in a statement. "These acts are crimes against state as well as federal laws."
The crime is punishable by up to a $15,000 fine and six months in jail. Those with information should call 1-800-352-0700 or visit http://www.azgfd.gov/ogt_form.shtml and use reference number OGT#16-003653.
