The historic Pioneer Building in downtown Tucson is getting a new life.

Healthcare company SinfoniaRx and real estate developer Holualoa have partnered to restore the former hotel.

The Pioneer Hotel opened in 1929 and was one of Tucson's first high-rise buildings.

The hotel was converted into an office building in 1977.

The dining room area will now be restored to reveal original architecture and maple flooring.

SinfoniaRx, which works with the University of Arizona's College of Pharmacy, will work out of the new dining room.

The restoration project is expected to be complete by summer 2018.
