Dog dies in two-story apartment fire in midtown

Tucson Firefighters were on the scene of a two-story apartment fire in the 1700 block of S Palo Verde Monday.

According to Fire Captain Julian Herrera, the single occupant of the home was able to exit safely after he was alerted by barking dogs in the upstairs portion of the apartment.

Firefighters put out the flames in 15 minutes with the help of 12 units and 33 firefighters.

One of the dogs was able to make it out safely, however one did die in the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
