Attic fire displaces family of six on the southside

Tucson Fire units responded to a house fire in the 2800 block of East Rickey Vista. 

TFD said that a neighbor called 911 when they saw smoke coming from the doors and windows of the house.

 

Fire crews determined that the fire was in the attic. They cut two small holes in the roof to extinguish the flames. 

Nine units and 23 firefighters responded to the scene and had the fire controlled ten minutes after arriving according to TFD.

Six people were staying at the house, a 64-year-old male and female, a 23-year-old male, a 21-year-old female, a 13-year-old female, and a 4-month-old female.

The family will stay with relatives and did not need assistance from the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. A lightning storm was passing through at the time of the fire but initial reports do not indicate lighning as a cause.
