TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - The Tempe City Council has ousted one of its own members.

With Councilmember Kolby Granville abstaining, the council voted unanimously during a 3-hour special meeting Friday night to remove him from office.

Granville is accused of unwanted sexual advances and providing alcohol to three underage college girls. The accusers went to a school where Granville taught before he was fired last year.

Granville denied the allegations, and the women declined to cooperate with police so charges weren't filed. However, city officials contend Granville violated the city's code of conduct.

Granville attorney Jay Calhoun said the city's process was unfair and biased, and Calhoun unsuccessfully urged that Granville be allowed to remain in office.

The council can appoint a replacement or declare a special election for his seat.
