Authorities in Yuma County say they have finally identified a homicide victim who was found 18 years ago.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says the woman is Angel Marie McAlister of the San Diego area.

She was found on Oct. 9, 1999, in Yuma County with a gunshot wound to the face.

This year, the FBI used a new fingerprint identification program to identify McAlister, who was 18 years old when she was killed.

Authorities also took DNA samples from two of her sisters and her mother and provided it to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Lab.

The lab notified the sheriff's office this week that the samples matched the victim.
