A 14-year-old girl died on Friday after being hit by a car on the south side earlier this month, according to the Tucson Police Department.
She has been identified as 14-year-old Domithila Rodriguez.
Sgt. Pete Dugan, a spokesman for the department said the incident happened on February 4 near East 36th Street just after 8 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene following the collision.
Detectives were able to determine that the driver of an SUV was heading westbound on East 36th Street in the curb lane.
Police say Rodriguez was crossing southbound across East 36th and was not in a crosswalk.
The driver did not see Rodriguez enter the roadway and was unable to stop in time, according to police.
Detectives say neither speed nor impairments appear to be factors in the collision.
