Teen who made school threat gets probation

A 17-year-old boy who made a hoax terrorist threat to a southside school has avoided prison time as part of a plea deal.

Arturo Gil, who police arrested in November after used the Facebook moniker "Jihadi Jim" to threatened a mass shooting and bombing at S.T.A.R. Academic Center, 5093 S. Liberty Ave. unless school officials leave $1,000 at the school.

Gil was sentenced Monday to serve three years of probation after pleading guilty to interference with or disruption of an eduactional institution, a class six undesignated felony.
