A Sierra Vista man has been arrested for attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault following a stabbing at a local bar early Saturday morning.
Sierra Vista Police say on Saturday at 12:16 a.m. officers responded to a report of a disorderly conduct at the International Karaoke and Bar located at 325 W. Fry Blvd.
As officers arrived, they contacted 39-year-old John Christopher Haynes.
SVPD learned that Haynes had instigated an argument with a man at the bar. At that time, Haynes agreed to leave the bar and officers remained on scene until he left.
A half hour later at 12:44 a.m. SVPD officers were dispatched to their previous location for a report of an assault with a knife.
As officers arrived, they saw Haynes running away from the bar. The officers followed Haynes and noticed that the threw an object into a nearby parking lot.
When officers located Haynes he had an empty knife holder attached to his belt.
Responding officers found that a man had been stabbed multiple times with a sharp object. The victim identified Haynes as the person who stabbed him.
Officers then found a knife in the back parking lot of a local business where Haynes had been seen throwing an object.
Haynes is being held at the Cochise County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
The victim was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center and is in stable condition.
