TPD arrests man for assaulting bus driver

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man who assaulted a Sun Tran bus driver last week has been arrested, according to Tucson Police.

A Sun Tran bus driver was assaulted and suffered minor injuries after being punched in the face on Thursday, February 4. Officer Dan Lucas, spokesperson with the Tucson Police Department says the incident happened at Roger and Oracle just after 3 p.m.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Joseph Zarate.  During the course of the fight, Zarate lifted his shirt and revealed what is believed to be a BB gun tucked in his waistband, said police.

Zarate fled the scene with a female who was with him.  

Officers located Zarate on Tuesday, February 9, at a bus stop.  He was arrested and released for misdemeanor Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Threats and Intimidation.
