SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The Sierra Vista Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old student after conducting an investigation into a bomb threat that was written on a bathroom wall at Buena High School on Tuesday afternoon.

A resource officer assigned to Buena High School, located 5225 E. Buena School Blvd in Sierra Vista, worked with school officials to determine the identity of the person responsible for writing the bomb threat on the wall in the boy's bathroom.

Cpl. Scott Borgstadt, Public Information Officer with the Sierra Vista Police Department says that after developing leads, officers were able to piece together details of the investigation and gather enough information to arrest the 16-year-old suspect.

The information that led to identifying the suspect was gathered from witnesses at the school and with information provided by the suspect's family.

Officers searched the suspect's home on Wednesday and did not find any devices or equipment that indicated the suspect had the capability or was actually intending to place an explosive device at the school, said Borgstadt.

The suspect has been charged with three felonies including two counts of disrupting an educational institution and one count of conducting a hoax, which involves engaging in conduct that would likely impart a false impression that an act of terrorism will take place, requiring an emergency response from law enforcement.
