A paving project in Midtown will take longer than expected after someone stole $150,000 worth of equipment from the contractor.

According to Michael Graham with the City of Tucson, someone broke into Sunland Asphalt's yard over the weekend and stole a box trailer full of electronic equipment used on paving machines.

This has delayed the paving project underway along Alvernon between Ft. Lowell and Speedway. The project was supposed to finish Tuesday but now Graham says it will likely take until Friday to complete.

Re-paving began on March 7. Crews are working Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. One of the company's milling machines broke on Friday also delaying the project and leading to crews working over the weekend.

During construction, crews have one lane of travel open in each direction.
