State board of education votes on school safety program

The State Board of Education unanimously approving a plan for more school counselors, social workers, and school resources officers.

Districts will be able to apply for funds for more resources in the coming weeks.

State Superintendent Kathy Hoffman says the plan took months to create and she applauds lawmakers for prohibiting for prioritizing student mental health, and physical safety.

Statewide, Arizona's student-to-counselor ratio is worst in the country 905 students to one counselor.
