A 16-year-old is dead after an early morning single vehicle accident at Speedway Blvd. between Cummings Drive and Esperanza Drive.
Austin Butler's pick up truck ended up in the median area after hitting Palo Verde trees and rolling over.
According to Tucson Police spokesperson Sgt. Pete Dugan, Butler was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead just before 7 p.m.
The roads were shut down for some time but have since re-opened.
Sgt. Dugan says they received a call on the accident just after 3:30 a.m. this morning.
Speed appears to be a factor in the collision and detectives are still working to see if impairments were also a factor.
