A pedestrian hit and run accident left one man dead on Thursday night.
The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Nelson Begay Six.
The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Alexander Newton according to Sgt. Peter Dugan with Tucson Police Department.
He was booked into the Pima County Jail on one felony count of Failure to Remain at a Collision Causing a Fatality.
The vehicle was described by a witness as a dark blue or black Audi. Police said the car will have front end damage and likely will also have front windshield damage.
We released the information to the public and a citizen recognized a car that matched that description and had damage on Friday morning.
Earlier that day, Alexander Newton had called to report that his vehicle had been stolen.
Authorities quickly determined that Newton's car had not been stolen and he was the subject driving at the time of the fatal hit and run.
