Special Olympics Arizona will be holding the Coronado area track and field competition today, according to a press release.
Over 500 Special Olympics athletes from Tucson and southern Arizona will be participating.
The athletes will be joined by more than 450 volunteers from organizations including the Tucson Police Department, Tucson Fire Department and Davis Monthan Air Force Base.
Athletes will be competing in 32 different track and field events including the 800 meter run, 1500 meter race walk the shot put, long jump and softball throw.
The meet is at Amphi High school located at 125 West Yavapai Road from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
