UPDATE: Interstate 19 car crash kills one, sends three more to hospital

UPDATE (1:16 p.m.):

According to a news release issued by Santa Rita Fire District, multiple agencies responded to a crash at 8:30 a.m. on Interstate 19, near Papago Road (Kilometer Post 88).

The first arriving unit, found a single SUV on its roof in the center median with several occupants on the ground and walking around.

An off-duty AMR medic was already on the scene providing initial patient care.

A total of four patients were confirmed. One patient was transported to Banner University Medical Center - Main Campus in critical condition. Two pediatric patients were transported by ground to the same facility in stable condition, the post said.

The fourth patient was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Santa Rita Fire District is reporting that southbound Interstate 19 is closed following a crash near kilometer post 88.

According to Arizona Department of Public Safety, it's a single-vehicle rollover with two ejections and one confirmed fatality.
