TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police are investigating the death of a skateboarder who was struck and killed by a car.
Police say 36-year-old Justin Howell was riding a skateboard in a bicycle lane in midtown at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the car was not impaired but that speed appears to have been a factor in the collision.
Detectives took possession of the Malibu as evidence after interviewing witnesses at the crash scene.
No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon but the investigation was continuing.
